The Best Romance Anime to watch this Valentine’s Day

Love is in the air! As Valentine’s Day approaches, why not add some romance anime into your watch list? For these recommendations, I chose shows or movies that you can watch on Valentine’s Day with your special someone (or alone, you know how it is), with options for movies & episodic series that you can stop mostly at any time.

Kimi no Na Wa

Kimi no Na Wa is probably one of the most famous anime movies in recent memory. On the romantic front, this is definitely a great Valentine’s Day watch as you follow the main characters as they try to find each other. I think this one’s especially great for long-distance couples to watch together.

Tsurezure Children

This show follows a series of high school couples as they stumble upon love and romance. This rom-com is great at capturing romantic tension and flirty cuteness. It’s a lot of fun to watch and the couples shown are all adorable in their own way. It’s sure to leave a few butterflies in your tummies.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai

Will they-won’t they! First Kisses! Shoujo bubbles galore! Battle shounen? Kaguya-sama takes a unique look on high school romance by adding a shounen rivalry between 2 kids who have crushes on each other. Incredibly cute and pretty funny, Kaguya-sama is the perfect chill late-night watch.

Howl’s Moving Castle

Howl & Sophie flying as he holds her hands

A true classic, Howl’s Moving Castle is both romantic and exciting. You can yell awww while pointing at the screen and asking your partner why they can’t be more like Howl. But jokes aside, Howl’s Moving Castle is a sweet, charming film that is bound to leave you both with smiles.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun

If you want something more light hearted, this one’s for you. GSNK asks the question – what if Shoujo characters refuse to cooperate with the usual tropes? This show is hilarious and an easy watch. I feel that this may be a great pick if you have a partner who isn’t a be big fan of the romance genre.

If you can’t get enough of romance anime, after Valentine’s Day why not start on some Shoujo classics (post coming soon)?
