Another day I was super excited about, this was the day I was finally going to see Phantom of the Opera live. I had booked tickets to see it with a friend on a Wednesday, because same seats cheaper tickets!
After class, I took the train to London and met my friend at a Shoryu, a Japanese restaurant. I had been craving some proper ramen for some time at that point, so this couldn’t have come at a better time. Also their green tea served in a pot was the best thing for that cold evening.
After dinner, we headed over to Her Majesty’s Theatre, the famous home of the Phantom of the Opera where the musical has been in production since it first premiered. Unfortunately, I don’t have many pictures to remember this day because my phone was running low on battery and I reaaally needed to preserve that 10% in case of an emergency.

You see that “overhang may obscure top of set”? That’s definitely something to look out for when you buy tickets. My friend and I didn’t really mind and just bent down when we couldn’t see the set (once or twice) but it’s just something to keep in mind for some of the cheaper seats.
The musical was amazing, as expected. Phantom has a pretty cheesy story that your mum will love but what you really buy those tickets for is the music. Grandiose and very dramatic, Phantom is musically thrilling. The moment those organs start, you know you’re in for a treat. It resonates throughout the theatre, as do the powerful voices of the singers.
Phantom comes in at number 2 of the three musicals I’ve watched live – Les Mis, Phantom & The Lion King. I’ve still got plenty more to watch live, but I’m really satisfied with both the musicals I caught on West End. Musical Theatre really is an experience I can’t recommend enough.
Interesting experience, it reminds me of the Opera Arena in Verona , almost every day in summer, different opera performances are shown, so that we can enjoy different famous opera every night. I tried to write a blog about it, hope you also like it: https://stenote.blogspot.com/2019/03/verona-at-opera-arena.html
